Altai Krai is located in the southeast of Western Siberia, on the border of mainland Asia in the 3419 km from Moscow. The territory is 168 thousand square meters. km, the area occupies 24th place in the Russian Federation and the 10th place in the Siberian Federal District.

Altai is famous for unique deposits of jasper, porphyry, marble, granite, mineral and drinking ground water, mineral healing mud.

In the salt lakes with considerable reserves of mineral raw materials for food and chemical industry: sodium sulfate, salt, natural soda, salt, magnesium and bromine.

The total area of ​​land resources of the region is 15,799.6 hectares. Plowed land - 40.6%.

Altay is one of the largest food producers in Russia. At the end of 2011 in the province produced 32.2% of the all-Russian grain, flour, meal and pellets of cereals, 15.6% of cheese and cheese products, 12.8% of flour from grain, fruit and vegetable crops, 5.3% butter and oil pastes.

Altay is a place in the Russian Federation on the sown area of ​​grain and leguminous crops. In 2011 received the fifth in Russia in terms of grain harvest - 4.2 million tons.
